Edward (Ned) H. Thomson, III, was born and raised in Avon, New Jersey, and has been a resident of Wall Township since July of 1985. Mr. Thomson is married to Sandra and they have three children, Christian, Meredith and Evan. Mr. Thomson’s great-grandfather, Jack Thomson, served as the first Mayor of Avon when the town was first incorporated.

Mr. Thomson attended the Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, Pennsylvania, College of Insurance, New York, New York, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, New Jersey. Mayor Thomson is President of E. H. Thomson & Co., Inc., Consulting Actuaries. Prior to this, Mr. Thomson was an actuarial assistant at Mutual of New York.

Committeeman Thomson is an active member of the community having spent many hours on the soccer fields with his children. He has served on the Wall Township Board of Adjustment and the Wall Township Planning Board. Mr. Thomson has been on the Township Committee since 1998. He was first elected to the Township Committee in 1999 and re-elected again in 2002, serving as Mayor the same year and again in 2005. Mr. Thomson is an Enrolled Actuary, Member of the Society of Pension Actuaries, Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Qualified Pension Administrator. Mr. Thomson is also a Trustee of New Jersey Public Employees Retirement System and a Representative of New Jersey Retirement Systems Actuarial Selection Committee and Executive Committee.

Committeeman Thomson feels that the important issues facing Wall Township today are adhering to the Township Master Plan, development of Allaire Airport by Monmouth County and the control of growth. Working to ensure the quality of life for the residents of Wall Township will always be his top priority.
