As per N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 the custodian of records has seven (7) business days to respond to a request for public records.
The requester has a right to challenge a decision by the public agency that has denied access to a public record by appealing to the Government Records Council or the New Jersey Superior Court. If your request is denied, a statement of the procedures will be detailed in an email from the Records Custodian.
